Ensure Quality of VoIP Services

Today’s next generation IP networks enable additional revenue opportunities for Service Providers, including the ability to offer hosted or managed VoIP/ IP services to business customers. In order to ensure a competitive offering, Service Providers must deliver on their service level agreements and offer best-in-class customer service to create loyal customers.

In today’s networks, simply making sure that a service ‘works’ when it’s initially deployed is not enough. It can be difficult enough to manage configuration changes in the Service Provider’s own network, let alone changes made in the customer’s network which can impact the quality of the delivered services. Service Providers must get proactive about understanding their customer’s end-to-end experience in order to ensure customer satisfaction.

An effective means of understanding service quality is by emulating the customers and measuring the quality of experience directly.

Tektronix Communications’ Active Test system, DirectQuality, enables Service Providers to validate their service levels 24 x 7, helping them react quickly and identify issues in their network before the customers are impacted. Service Provider’s use DirectQuality to:

  • Ensure that new customer turn‐ups start with the highest level of quality, and use summary reports to create a “Birth Certificate” for the new service.
  • Use scheduled test plans to run mesh tests across all of their sites to localize issues between their core delivery network and the customer’s networks.
  • Use on-demand quick tests to troubleshoot problems in the network by recreating issues or validating fixes after configuration changes.
